Local Weather – Lewes & Rehoboth Beach
Since almost all of Sussex County is a part of the Atlantic Ocean coastline, the effects of the ocean moderate our climate. Compared to northern Delaware, temperatures in Sussex County are about 5-10 degrees warmer in winter and 5-10 degrees cooler in summer. The winter climate is a mix between the cold of the Northeast and the mild weather of the South. Summer weather is generally warm and humid, however, our nights are usually quite comfortable.
Delaware’s all time record high of 110 °F (43 °C) was recorded at Millsboro on July 21, 1930; the all time record low of −17 °F (−27 °C) was also recorded at Millsboro on January 17, 1893.
